La Seine

This is, as you probably know, La Seine which is one of the longest rivers in France.

I think it really represents Paris. La Seine is Paris. I mean, it all started there. The earliest recorded Parisians lived on the Ile de la Cité, which is an island on the Seine. It was indispensable to ancient parisians as it is now to modern Parisians. As we, parisians, don't have the sea or anything, we love (or I love?) hanging out on The Quais which are really nice in summer (when, by the way, you can dance rock and roll or tango) .

Many artists, such as photographers, movie directors (for example the famous scene taken from the movie An American In Paris (with Gene Kelly)) and paintors were inspired by it.

If la seine is beautiful in day light, it is even more amazing at night. All the houses' lights are reflected on the water, and well, it looks great.

There is something else I really adore about La Seine, I guess it's kind of tourist like, but I love it anyway: Les bateaux mouches. I love it because it's not something you get to do every day, and when you actually can, you don't, because it's a tourist thing and you feel silly to do it. But when you finally get on the boat, you stop feeling stupid, and you just feel great, for a moment your not a Parisian anymore, you're just someone admiring the city with nothing to worry about.
